I went to the Bermuda Triangle!
I recently went on a trip to Bermuda for 5 days and I can confidently say this is a hidden gem that a lot of people need to know about!
When I was telling my friends that I was going to Bermuda, I got a lot of stares and some even said “You’re going to Bermuda Triangle” and I’m happy to report it was definitely worth it.
The people of Bermuda were the highlight of this trip because they were the nicest people, and everyone was very open to helping me.

Why Bermuda?
I watched this video and I fell in love with Bermuda! Bermuda is a small island located in the British territory, it’s known for its many beautiful beaches, colourful buildings and a lot of seafood. Also, after learning it was a majorly black country, I was eager to see how that experience would be.
Things to Known about Bermuda before going
Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory, meaning they don’t yet have independence. However, there’s a blend of cultures in Bermuda that you will enjoy when you visit. It’s an island, meaning there are many beaches to explore and it’s slow-paced, which was very refreshing for me, no one was in a hurry to get anywhere. The currency used is USD or Bermudian Dollars and it’s an expensive location, but you can spend a decent amount if you plan properly. There are no Ubers just metered taxis (Crazy expensive, I spent 70 USD once and wanted to cry). However, tourists can get around with scooters, mopeds, electric microcars or public buses because non-residents are not allowed to rent cars. Bermuda has great weather all year round but the summer is still the best time to come because there are more things to experience. You can get a bus pass by downloading the Shorelink app and they use the standard North American Power Sockets.
What I did in Bermuda
I’m a planner but from the first day I got to Bermuda, my itinerary was messed up because it was a holiday period and the bus frequency was slower. It was either I was missing the bus because it came early or I had to wait a long time for the bus, however, Bermudians were very kind to give me lifts to my destination.
A fun fact is you can explore all of Bermuda on a 4-day trip, I got to visit the different regions – West End, Central Bermuda, and East End during my stay!
The Crystal Caves
The crystal caves are a must-see, it’s a beautiful natural phenomenon that was formed millions of years ago. It’s a 30-minute guided tour and you get to see the crystalized rock, the very clear water and hear the history of the rocks. It cost $USD 24.
Bermuda Aquarium and Museum
BAM is another place you want to check out if you enjoy museums and aquariums. I really enjoyed seeing the aquarium because it’s been a while since I’ve been to one and I was in awe of all the fishes. It cost $USD 10.
Gibbs Hill Lighthouse
You have to climb the 185 stairs to see one of the best views in Bermuda, it’s definitely worth it! This is one of the oldest lighthouse of its kind and it has been around for a very long time. It cost $2.50.
The Unfinished Church
Visit the unfinished church to get great photo ops and see one of the UNESCO world sites. This church was never finished due to funding problems and the parishioners fighting. However, it has now become one of the top spots for weddings in Bermuda due to its architectural beauty and archaic feel. I saw a wedding happening when I visited. It’s free to visit.
Cup Match
If you plan on visiting Bermuda in early August (from August 1), you have to take part in the Cup Match Festivities. The Cup Match holiday is one of the biggest holidays in Bermuda to celebrate Bermuda’s Emancipation (Abolition of Slavery) and there are so many activities. You can start with watching the cricket game, followed by the Bacchanal run where you party on the streets of Bermuda while painting yourself and the streets in different colours. There are also a lot of parties during this period so prepare to have a blast!
Beach hopping
Bermuda is home to some of the most beautiful beaches and I got to visit a total of 7 during my stay. You should definitely go beach hopping and while at it be sure to watch the sun set beautifully over the water! Here are the beaches I visited in order of my favourites;
Church Bay Beach
Tobacco Bay Beach (This is a great beach to watch the Sunset)
Warwick Long Bay & Jobson Cove
Clearwater Beach
Horseshoe Bay
John Smith Bay Beach
Somerset Long Bay Beach
Walking Tour
Walking tours are a great way to learn about the culture and history of the country you’re in and I recommend getting this one with Bermuda’s Town Crier.

Fasho right on! I’ll definitely be back in Bermuda, but not alone cause of those expenses. Bermuda is somewhere I have felt my best, it felt like home, everyone was super kind and I felt comfortable interacting with the locals. It was very safe and a lovely place to experience.
